Cheltenham - The Story So far
Insight: Back in 2019, I was overwhelmed (you know that feeling of moving but never arriving anywhere?). I had worked at a nonprofit for four years managing multiple roles. I was the in-house graphic designer, photographer, videographer, social media manager, and website designer, trying to give my all on every task, losing my passion and creativity, and struggling with my mental health.
Exploration: In 2020, the COVID quarantine came around and provided a moment of isolation and pause in my routine. I accepted the opportunity to stop, listen, and reflect. I made a promise to myself that when quarantine ended I would be making intentional choices to live a life with less stress and anxiety. I took time to discover my core values. I developed a process for noticing and addressing tension in my life. Then, I applied what I learned and invested in my personal and professional growth, starting a blog to record my discoveries. I dreamed big dreams. I explored my aesthetic and the lifestyle I wanted to live as a digital nomad.
Clarity: Then came the time to put my lessons into practice. I sought out new work. I protected my time and energy and charged my worth. In 2021, I transformed my blog into a business, starting my journey from graphic designer to Creative Director of Cheltenham. I applied the same process for addressing tension in my personal growth to guide small business clients in Baltimore and along the east coast in growing their brands with more clarity and ease.
Elevation: In the past few years I began volunteering as a design coach at MICA’s annual DesignFest, became a best-selling author, and recently signed my first five-figure contract helping brands show up as their best self. Today, I spend my time investing in the life I want to live, less overwhelmed, with more growth, better health, wealth, and daily ease.
Cheltenham is my avenue for better growth, where I help individuals and brands make intentional and consistent actions towards thriving. Of course, I couldn’t do this alone. My network of friends, family members, and local creatives have supported this journey.
Thank you all.
With undying appreciation,
- Gabe Carter, CEO & Brand Therapist, Cheltenham
